UNCHARTED TERRITORY:

DAVID THOMPSON ON THE COLUMBIA PLATEAU

Parent's Journal
Colorado State University

David Thompson is considered by many as “the greatest North American land geographer of his time.” During his travels in the Canadian Rockies and Northwestern United States, Thompson established trade relationships with native tribes, set up fur trade posts and mapped over 1.5 million square miles of the North American continent. David Thompson, revered as a national hero in Canada, is less well known to Americans. Produced and written by Mary DeCesare, directed and edited by Jim Zimmer and art directed by Michael Dixon, Uncharted Territory: David Thompson on the Columbia Plateau, is a one hour KSPS Public Television documentary on this fascinating time in history.
